In 1960 the ship went from one extreme to another, from fishery protection in the ' Cod War ' off Iceland then back to the Persian Gulf. Whilst in the Persian Gulf in 1960, she captured an Arab dhow which was engaged in illegal gun running, for this the ship was presented with a silver dagger by the Sultan of Muscat. Mid 1960's Loch Fada moved to the Far East and operated mainly from Singapore and Hong Kong as part of the 3rd Frigate Squadron and was involved in the Borneo confrontation. In April 1963 one rating OS Elkington spent 12 hours in shark infested waters after his boat capsized returning from Brunei. He was found by helicopters from HMS Hermes alive and none the worse for his ordeal. Loch Fada returned to Portsmouth in October 1967 The last of her class.
However this was not the end! In May 1969 she was anchored on the MOD range at Luce Bay in Scotland as a floating test bed for 'Sea Wolf' missiles. Sadly in May 1970 she was converted into razor blades.

Has anyone had sight of the ships bell, since they last had to polish it on board, the search is on to try and find it. If you have any news of any memorabilia from the ship then please let the secretary know.
